Successful teachers and assistants at Bright Beginnings are passionate about play, are committed to putting children first, and are knowledgeable about child development. They are dynamic, adaptable, and ready to be part of an amazing team of staff members and parent volunteers.

Teachers work closely with parent volunteers, teaching assistants, and other staff members to plan and implement an emergent, play-based curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Observe the interests and abilities of the children and adjust the environment to suit these needs

• Collaborate with co-teacher and other staff members to plan and implement open-ended play invitations and engaging group gatherings

• Guide and coach parent volunteers in fulfilling their roles inside and outside of the classroom

• Build relationships with families; communicate with them regarding their child, and child development concepts

• Document child learning with photos and in writing

Qualifications and Skills

• Must meet CA licensing requirements for preschool teachers including clear background check, health screening, CPR/First Aid training

• Teachers must have 12 ECE units

• Assistants need 6 ECE units

• Initiative, enthusiasm, and flexibility

• Intricate knowledge of and ability to clearly articulate child development concepts to parent volunteer classroom assistants

• Interest in developing creative, play-based, emergent curriculum

• Commitment to professional growth
